TO PARTICIPATE IN:
A PROJECT TO MAKE MORE PRODUCTS AVAILABLE IN NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL MARKETS BY PROMOTING THE CONSUMPTION OF AGRICULTURAL, AQUACULTURAL AND FISHERY PRODUCTS THAT HAVE BEEN CERTIFIED IN THE CONTAMINATION RISK REDUCTION SYSTEM BY THE STANDARDS ESTABLISHED BY MÉXICO CALIDAD SUPREMA, MÉXICO G.A.P.®, SQF AND OTHERS ORGANIZATIONS THAT OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZE THE MÉXICO CALIDAD SUPREMA CERTIFICATION SEAL.

BACKGROUND

As a contributing co-owner of the brand México Calidad Suprema, México Calidad Suprema, A.C. (MCS, A.C.) certifies products for quality and safety so that growers, packers and their organizations can fulfill national regulations as well as fulfill the requirements of our major trading partners.

The project will be operated with federal funds from the Program of Agricultural and Fishery Development and Information through Support and Services for Agricultural Marketing (ASERCA), which is a decentralized agency of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA).

PURPOSE OF MCS, A.C.

To benefit producers and/or packers by paying a percentage of the cost of services for getting certified through MCS, A.C., MéxicoG.A.P./GLOBALG.A.P., S.Q.F. and other officially approved organizations as well as to strengthen compliance with the Pollution Risk Reduction System (SRRC) of the National Service of Food Health, Safety and Quality (SENASICA).

REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTIFICATION BODIES

  • Be a product certification body constituted under the laws of the United States of America and accredited to assess conformity to standards such as those of MCS, A.C., MéxicoG.AP/GLOBALG.AP and S.Q.F.
  • Have completed certification audits for MéxicoG.A.P. and/or México Calidad Suprema since June 28, 2013 as well as have submitted certification projections for these standards and for others that are offically recognized by MCS, A.C., for the first half of 2014.
  • Present evidence of services and of having received private funding since June 28, 2013.
  • Sign a contract for certification servicing with MCS, A.C.
  • Attend, as a legal and management representative, the mandatory, annual meeting for certification bodies that use MCS, A.C., resources.

REQUIREMENTS FOR BENEFICIARIES

  • Must be a tax payer or a person with no criminal record as determined by Mexican law who is involved either individually or collectively in production, packaging and/or the minimal processing of agricultural, aquacultural or fishery products.
  • Must be a company or a group of producers working with MCS, A.C., that implements or is in the process of getting certified in the SRRC.
  • Producers and packers wanting to receive financial support in getting certified in the SRRC will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who apply late are subject to budget availability and may be eligible for financial support in the next project.

PERCENTAGE OF THE AUDIT THAT CAN RECEIVE FINANCIAL SUPPORT

  • Up to 50% the first, second and third times

DEADLINE

Certification bodies wishing to participate must submit a letter of application (open format) that includes information demonstrating compliance with the requirements described in this announcement prior to December 24, 2013.

PERIOD

Financial support will begin December 2013 and end July 2014.
